We are searching for a highly motivated Postdoctoral candidate with strong ambition and commitment to a productive environment in a high achieving academic environment. Our laboratory focuses on neural stem cell isolation, perpetuation and differentiation into specific neural lineages for basic biology, drug discovery and stem cell-based therapy for neurological disorders. We have discovered technologies for neural stem cell derivation and differentiation into dopaminergic neurons with application in Parkinson’s disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury and other neurological disorders. We work with rodent and nonhuman primate models of Parkinson’s disease, stroke and traumatic brain injury. The postdoc fellow will report to Dr. Marcel Daadi.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: REQUIRED: Ph.D. in neurosciences, molecular neurobiology or developmental biology with experience in induced pluripotent stem cells. Strong molecular/developmental biology background to investigate reprogramming, induced-pluripotent stem cell derivation and characterization, genome-editing using CRISPR-CAS9 and disease modeling.
POTENTIAL HAZARDS: This position may involve exposure to carcinogens, compressed gases, cryogenics, electrical hazards, infectious materials (BSL-2) and animals. Participation in a medical monitoring and surveillance program is required. Safety training and protective clothing, equipment and supplies will be provided.
OTHER: This is a full-time salaried (exempt) position. Texas Biomed business hours are Mondays through Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Texas Biomed is committed to a drug-free workplace. Pre-employment drug screen is required.
