Texas Biomedical Research Institute is searching for a highly motivated individual for a research assistant position. The research assistant will work with cell/pluripotent stem cell cultures, flow cytometry, molecular biology assays, immuno-histochemistry, quantitative PCR, cell culture and RNA purification. The research assistant will also be responsible for day-to-day lab organization and for ordering reagents. The research assistant will report to Dr. Marcel Daadi.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Required: BS/BA in biological sciences. One to three years of laboratory experience, knowledge of cell culture, Q-PCR and molecular biology techniques required. Experience using MS word, Excel and other office-related applications. Excellent record keeping, communication skills, flexibility and a willingness to learn and work in a high performing team are essential.
POTENTIAL HAZARDS: This position may involve exposure to carcinogens, compressed gases, cryogenics, electrical hazards, infectious materials (BSL-2) and animals. Participation in a medical monitoring and surveillance program is required. Safety training and protective clothing, equipment and supplies will be provided.
OTHER: This is a full-time salaried (exempt) position. Texas Biomed business hours are Mondays through Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Texas Biomed is committed to a drug-free workplace. Pre-employment drug screen is required.
