SAN ANTONIO - The Texas Biomedical Research institute in San Antonio is working with several partners to develop a vaccine for COVID-19.

This comes after two months of studying what kinds of animals can be used as models for testing and they found out monkeys will do the trick.

One of the big findings was all ages of monkeys had the same odds of contracting the virus.

"In our opinion, our results are striking in that they show that it's not age per per sey," Director of SNPRC & Professor at Texas BioMed Dr. Deepak Kaushall said. "It just not that you're old, you're going to get this disease. It may be that there are some other underlying factors that sometimes aging brings."

Now, some of those underlying factors include diabetes, obesity or chronic lung and heart disease.
