**COVID IMPACT** We are excited you are considering a visit to the Texas Biomed campus. Due to COVID-19, we have temporarily suspended community tours and campus access to visitors. But to ensure our mission to provide an educationally rich environment at Texas Biomed, we are offering virtual tour programs for high school and community organizations.

In Person Tours Information: Thank you for your interest in participating in an in person educational tour of Texas Biomedical Research Institute (Texas Biomed). We anticipate in person high school tours will resume during the 2022 Spring Academic semester. In the past, in person high school tour applications have been submitted through the Texas Biomedical Forum, an independent organization dedicated to promoting Texas Biomed through community relations, volunteer service, and fundraising. The application for high school tours will be moved to this webpage. Please check this webpage for updates as to when in person high school tours will resume as well as an updated tour application.

The Forum will continue to support the education and outreach efforts of Texas Biomed through a competitive scholarship to off-set the cost of high school tours. When the Texas Biomed campus is cleared for tours, information regarding the scholarship criteria and a link to the scholarship application will be posted here. Please check this site in November 2021 for updates.

Facilitated Virtual Tours: Beginning in October, we will host virtual tour experiences for high school students, grades 8 through 12. Texas Biomed will host two virtual Zoom tours per month. Applications for the virtual tours will be posted to this site on September 1, 2021.

We are committed to providing quality educational programs for area teachers and students regarding the world-renowned infectious disease research conducted at Texas Biomed. Continue to check our Educational Resource page for additional resources to support teachers and students.

    Facilitated Virtual Tour Application

Our goal is to offer virtual tours which highlight the important infectious disease research conducted at Texas Biomed and to highlight potential careers for students. The one-hour virtual Zoom tour includes video tours of Texas Biomed labs and the Southwest National Primate Research Center. After the videos, a Texas Biomed scientist will share information about their research and answer student questions. There is a pre-tour video (2:15 min) which provides background information about Texas Biomed. As time is limited for the virtual tour, we will be unable to include this video in the tour.

Virtual tours will be limited to a maximum of 35 students. As there is limited availability for facilitated virtual tours, only one application per school will be accepted. Each application must include a minimum of two learning objectives for the virtual tour. Teachers may only submit one application per school year. Virtual tour dates and time availabilities are included on the application. Please select and rank up to three (3) options. We will do our best to accommodate the various school schedules and can make minor adjustments, such as adjusting start times up to 10 minutes from start time; however, please understand not all requests can be met.

Once an application is approved, the organizing teacher will be contacted by the Research Education Outreach Specialist, Rosemary Riggs, PhD, to finalize the virtual tour details.

Please send questions regarding facilitated virtual tours to Rosemary Riggs ().
