Research Focus
Elda Mendoza, MVZ, is veterinarian with expertise in animal healthcare and advanced surgical procedures. She joined Texas Biomed in 2016 as Colony Manager for the rhesus macaques, monitoring the health and physical environment for the colony.
Dr. Mendoza studied in Mexico, earning a Bachelor’s degree in biology from Colegio de Ciencias y Humanidades (College of Science and Humanities) and her veterinary degree from the La Facultad de Estudios Superiores Cuautitlán at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (Cuautitlán Facility of Superior Studies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico).
During veterinary school, she worked at a dairy complex focusing on reproduction and helping with artificial insemination programs and in vitro trials. She also has experience working in a small animal vet practice.
Prior to joining Texas Biomed, she worked at Charles River Laboratories, where she helped developed new surgery models for intermediate to advanced surgical procedures, helped guide research planning and support studies, and managed quarantine operations.
