Texas Biomed operates the only privately owned biosafety level 4 (BSL-4) laboratory. Our work is overseen by an Institutional Biosafety Committee which evaluates our research and ensures compliance with safety regulations. In accordance with NIH regulations, minutes from meetings taking place after June 1, 2025, will be available here once appropriately ratified.
Texas Biomed’s Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) provides review and oversight of all research that involves recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules, including that involving potentially hazardous biological materials and infectious agents. The committee assists and advises Principal Investigators in meeting responsibilities to ensure that the biological aspects of research are conducted using approved biosafety standards and in accordance with The NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant or Synthetic DNA Molecules (NIH Guidelines).
