The goal of the clinical core trip is to provide participants with knowledge on the design and execution of field studies that are clinically relevant and logistically feasible.

Clinical Core Trip FAQs
The drive from Texas Biomed to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), where Dr. Restrepo’s lab is located, is approximately 4 hours by car.
No. Participants are not expected to cross the border at any point during this trip.
Yes. There is a border checkpoint on the return drive, so please bring appropriate identification such as a driver’s license, passport, visa, green card, or other relevant documentation, just in case it is requested.
Participants will spend one night in McAllen, Texas. Hotel accommodation will be arranged and paid for by IN-TRAC, and rooms will be shared between two participants.
Participants will carpool from Texas Biomed to McAllen. If you are willing to drive, please let Darcy Shope know. Drivers will be reimbursed for mileage.
Yes, if you are accepted as an attendee, you may be eligible for a roundtrip flight from your city to McAllen, TX.
Yes. Texas Biomed employees will be reimbursed for per diem according to institutional guidelines. The hotel cost will be covered by IN-TRAC.
External participants can submit food receipts to Darcy after the trip to be reimbursed for meal expenses.
Yes. External participants who drive will be reimbursed for mileage. If you are traveling from out of town, you may also be reimbursed for mileage from your home location.
