The annual award recognizes organizations that provide a fulfilling and collaborative work environment.

Texas Biomed, which employs about 500 people at its 200-acre campus, is one of 13 winners in the extra-large category for San Antonio organizations with more than 250 employees. The annual competition is based on employee votes, making the result even more gratifying for the Institute’s leaders.

“Texas Biomed offers an inspiring, inclusive and engaging place to do meaningful work that changes lives,” said Rebecca Madere, Vice President of Human Resources at Texas Biomed. “This award is a testament to the passion and commitment our team members bring every day to make the world a healthier and safer place for all.”

It has established a strong sense of community through a calendar filled with fun events and a vibrant Culture Club, an employee-led group that brings fresh ideas to enhance the workplace and ensure every voice is heard.

Health comes first

In a separate honor, Texas Biomed earned the top recognition from the San Antonio Business Group on Health and Mayor’s Fitness Council: the Healthy Workplace Platinum Award.

Over the past four years, Texas Biomed has implemented numerous health and wellness initiatives, programs and resources including an onsite health clinic, an onsite gym, zero-cost preventative screenings, cost-effective prescription drug program and employee assistance program that provides support for navigating life’s various challenges.

The Institute also hosts numerous health-focused events and activities, including webinars addressing a variety of wellness topics, onsite mammogram clinics, onsite dental clinics, a trim down challenge, annual Turkey Trot and in 2025, the first Texas Biomed Field Day.
