Research Focus
With an interest in anti-microbial T cell immunity, Shouxiong Huang, Ph.D., characterizes the structures and presentation of small metabolite and lipid antigens to activate unconventional T cells and fight infections such as tuberculosis. Dr. Huang’s studies focus on mucosal-associated invariant T cells and lipid-reactive T cells for their protective responses independent of variable genetics of human individuals. He integrates multidisciplinary expertise, including immunology, microbiology, translational studies and mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and lipidomics, to understand and develop metabolite and cell targets for disease intervention.
