On Saturday, May 5, 2018, Texas Biomed and the Southwest National Primate Research Center helped promote science as a worthy pursuit to hundreds of girl and their families who attended the 12th Girls Inc. Annual RockIT into the Future Science Festival at Heroes Stadium.
The free community event celebrates science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). As local experts in the field, our volunteers talked to the students and helped them participate in hands-on experiments.
Our volunteers manned three tables and saw hundreds of visitors that took part in our activities:
- Teasing the DNA out of a strawberry
- Looking at malaria under a microscope
- Putting together enrichment food bags for nonhuman primates
